President of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee

I once saw a friend when I was in high school, wearing a t-shirt stating, “President of the Itty Bitty Titty committee”. Of course, judging by the title, she wasn't speaking about her height and certainly not her brains but her....breasts!

The WOMEN’S BREASTS, formally known as mammary glands, also known as boobies, racks, “the girls”, and my favorite of course: tities! I will call them breasts for now. There are some women who take pride in their breasts. Many flaunt them and even give them names like men do to their penis. But unfortunately there are too many women who are ashamed of their breasts, most especially when it comes to size. Most of these women tend to belong to our so called “Itty Bitty Titty Committee”. (IBTC)

With all the attention put on women’s breasts, we now have a much younger generation now loathing their breast size. We also have many more high school girls considering breast implants and many receiving them as birthday or graduation gifts from their parents. In 2002, it was reported that 3,095 girls under 18 received breast implants and 3,841 in 2003. Last year, 4,100 girls under 18 received breast implants. These numbers represent fewer than 10% of breast implant patients. In 2007 18 and 19 year olds made up 9,000 cases of breast implant surgery. But the American society for aesthetic plastic surgery and other studies have found that with the slump of the economy, teen breast implant surgeries have fortunately diminished. I guess the recession is hitting everyone these days.

I want to ask my readers: Is all this necessary? And why do so many young girls want to mutilate their bodies to achieve an empty goal? (For the purpose of this article, I will not include medical cases where it is necessary or the problems of asymmetry in the breasts.)

The Media
Like with so many other self-esteem issues, we will have to go to our beloved media. Although many straight and especially younger girls are not running to the shelves to purchase the latest issue of Playboy magazine, they are well aware that most of these women are large breasted and have gone under the knife. Because these women’s large breasts have contributed to their success and because they are considered as being some of the sexiest women, girls begin to strive for that look.

We also have some of our most loved celebrities that have openly stated that they have had breast implants, don’t regret it and are not ashamed, which leads young girls to thinking that this is a possible option for them. It also allows young girls to not see any harm or risks in the surgery. Celebrities such as pamela anderson, carmen electra, janet jackson, jenny mccarthy and wendy williams have gone through it and although others haven’t come out about it, the change is obvious.

Another factor that seems to go unnoticed is surprisingly Victoria’s Secret. Yes, our lovely Victoria’s Secret. I have noticed that it has seemed to advertise larger breasts and convey the message that large breasts are usually sexier. Not only do they have a gazillion push-up bras to make women look bustier and plumper, but I observed something particular in the ads and magazines as well. All the models (whom many are not large breasted) looked at least one or two cup sizes bigger in their pictures. Their breasts were the first things you noticed…..and usually the last. What irks me about this the most, is that models are usually very tall and have a slim-like figure. If you have ever paid attention to women of this body type, they are usually small- chested, proportional to their body, of course (like myself). The unrealistic image of seeing all the models with such large breasts creates an also unrealistic image of the women’s body in the minds of women and men.

The Real World
But alas, we cannot blame only the media for the images of women’s breasts. What we have experienced plays a huge role on us. We have all experienced the flat chested girl in school being teased and the boys drooling over the freshly pubescent girl that just got two new bffs during summer vacation. So of course, as human beings we want to look attractive to our preferred sex. Girls want bigger breasts to get attention for guys. But what too many girls don’t realize is that it doesn’t really matter. YES, men do like big breasts, and it is their idea of “fun”…and nothing is wrong with that. But for most sweet and decent guys, they are absolutely fine with being with a small- chested girl. If a guy does decide to not be with a girl because she is small- chested, I bet my size A cups, that he is a shallow, insecure, self-centered jerk…or weirdo. And we don’t want that ladies, do we? Of course not.

Now no one is saying breasts can’t be sexy or flaunted. Making your breasts (either small or large) look attractive or fuller by either wearing a flattering bra or blouse is not wrong at all. But size should not matter. Just like all the many women who have gained success from their large assets, we have many other very sexy celebs that have stayed in the Itty Bitty Titty Committee (IBTC) and have been very successful. Sexy celebs like shakira, cameron diaz, zoe saldana, paris hilton, rihanna, kirsten dunst, and jennifer lopez.
So to my little cups out there, wear your IBTC t-shirt and spread the word!

This is a video of Shakira's "Whenever, Wherever" video, where she is stating her pride in her small breasts. Listen out for her saying "Lucky that my breasts are small and humble, so you don't confuse them with mountains"...............great song, check it out!
