It's the Man's Turn Now!

There was a recent photo in W magazine of celebrity Ginnifer Goodwin wearing some sleek, sexy two piece outfits surrounded by two topless, muscular, sexy young men. I know this scenario sounds familiar, but it is usually the other way around.
Of course we have had too many ads where the man is the main focus of attention and the women are just mere accessories. There have a billion and one protests and heated debates towards this too often occurrence. But in most recent times, things have changed where the woman is now the main focus, often fully dressed, with the guys being seen as the sexy, unclothed accessory. But we usually don’t hear any complaints about that,do we?

Well, some of the reasons for that may be obvious, others not, but this is rarely discussed.

One of the reasons can be that men are usually not seen as sexual symbols in America. Although we have our Brad Pitts, George Clooneys, Denzel Washingtons, and Robert Pattinsons (for the new generation), we will never have a male version of Marilyn Monroe, (an iconic sex symbol). Of course, men can be great eye candy for the heterosexual female or homosexual male, but women’s sexuality is just not perceived or exploited in the same manner as men’s sexuality.
Another factor may be that this is the women’s way of getting revenge. Women have too often been degraded and exposed; women and men might feel it’s the man’s turn now to show their goods. No more seeing only naked women or half naked women, or seeing a woman being used to sell a product, like beer. Men can also use their bodies as a sexual commodity and look very pleasurable to the public.

Revenge? Really Zest? We’re not that terrible.

Ok, so maybe it’s not revenge. Maybe times are just changing. People are realizing that women can be just as sexual as men. We want to see naked guys! Yes!
There are no more myths that women do not ever get horny (and the ones that do are whores), or that women view sex as torture. Women can even be accepted as initiating sex with a partner. All these things are acceptable and normal. So, men becoming more outwardly open with their bodies seem to be a sign of the times.

What do you think of this picture? Mere eye candy or a little degrading to our men?

Here are some more similar pictures. Tell me what you think.

Here it is the other way around. Did you feel differently looking at this picture and the pictures above?

I don't even think women want to see male nudity in the media.

Have you seen Bruno?
Did you like viewing that?

to bernie: bruno cannot be used as an example, simply becuz he was not trying in the least bit to look atrractive. He was exploting his body and acting like a fool throughout the movie for sum laughs..sumthin like playgirl, where you would have nude males actualy trying to look sexy is sumthin that would be more appealing to females

it is true that women are much more often exploited than men are but that is exactly why it is more offensive (at least for me) to look at the women-exploited pics rather than the male-exploited pics. and although i personally dont want to see nude or partially nude men that doesnt mean other people dont. maybe that will even change the way guys look at this whole thing because they wont like being exploited in the same way. maybe its even a revolution in the making

idk but i hope that the mentality of america, and the world, changes. and i dont mean that men should become the new sex objects but that we dont need, use or exploit people at all as sex objects.
but of course that hope is far away from being reached. =(
